PRIVATE WIRELESS 2.0: WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2021 AND BEYOND

Many of the initial private wireless networks are using LTE technology. But 5G is being rolled out right now and could offer some additional advantages. Also, some companies interested in private wireless did not bid for CBRS spectrum. But they can still obtain spectrum from secondary markets. What’s the status of these issues now that private wireless is gaining some maturity? Is it worth waiting for 5G or better to get rolling with an LTE private network immediately?  In the U.S., how is the secondary market for PAL’s taking shape? And finally, is there a relationship between private wireless and edge cloud?

DIY PRIVATE NETWORKS: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

Private wireless networks don’t have to be led by telcos or system integrators. Plenty of organizations are setting up their own private wireless networks, either working with big vendors or doing the whole thing themselves. There’s even open-source software called Magma to set up private wireless networks. But what do you need to know about spectrum, hardware, and software? How should you go about sourcing vendors? What type of in-house expertise do you need to build and then manage?

ENTERPRISE WIRELESS STRATEGIES: PRIVATE WIRELESS, WI-FI OR NETWORK SLICING?

When it comes to wireless network strategies, enterprises have a number of network options to evaluate. They can certainly use Private Wireless Networks with LTE or 5G technology. They could beef up their Wi-Fi networks via 6 GHz spectrum and Wi-Fi 6. Or, one of the most anticipated technological benefits of 5G is the ability for enterprises to use network slicing, which will enable wireless carriers to create dedicated “slices” of their network and sell these to enterprise customers. What are the various pros, cons, and use cases for each? With Private Wireless delivering Enterprises greater control and reliability, is there even a need/demand for Network Slicing?

1:00PM-2:15PM ET:
PRIVATE WIRELESS MEETS INDUSTRIAL IOT

Private wireless networks can be used for a variety of industrial use cases, including Internet of Things (IoT) applications that connect a multitude of sensors. While some IoT networks use NB-IoT or CAT-M technologies, many industries are exploring the broad capabilities that 4G or 5G technologies bring across a range of spectrum options like CBRS in the United States or other industry spectrum bands in Europe. So what are the compelling use cases for Industrial Private networks and how are they driving ROI for the industries? How are the needs of Industrial Private Networks different than in other verticals? What are some early learnings from some of the manufacturers and industrial organizations that have been first to deploy? Last but not least, how do technology advancements in areas such as sensors, video, XR, “robotic vehicles,” edge compute complement and/or impact in the evolution of industrial private networks capabilities and unique attributes?
