THE ROAD TO CLOUD NATIVE ARCHITECTURES

The term “cloud native” is bandied about freely in the telecommunications space these days. It refers to the trend to move functions beyond legacy physical infrastructure and even beyond virtual machines (VMs) to an entirely different paradigm that relies on containers and microservices. What are the benefits of cloud-native architectures? What role does Kubernetes container management play in cloud-native environments? How can telcos best implement cloud-native technology into their networks, and how can they build a cloud-native culture at their companies?

11:00AM-11:15AM: Keynote with Roy Chua, AvidThink's Founder and Principal
11:15AM-11:30AM: Partner Keynote with Craig Wilson, IBM's Vice President, Global Telecom Industry
11:30AM-12:15PM: Panel Discussion

SASE: THE RISING TIDE

Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) is a new technology that views security as a fabric running across the network and endpoint devices. Instead of implementing security in various locations on a corporation's premises, SASE performs these functions in the cloud. According to the Dell'Oro Group, more than 20 vendors from various backgrounds such as networking, cybersecurity and content delivery are now competing for SASE market share. Do the approaches from various SASE providers differ in important ways? What role does SD-WAN play in the SASE ecosystem? And does edge computing factor into a SASE offering?

2:00PM-2:20PM: Keynote Interview with Rupesh Chokshi, AT&T Cybersecurity's Vice President
2:20PM-3:15PM: Panel Discussion

PARTNER WORKSHOP: HOW NON-INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS CHALLENGE OVERALL ENTERPRISE SECURITY: SASE'S ROLE IN TODAY'S MODERN CYBER SECURITY ARCHITECTURE

The stakes have never been higher for TSP’s to have a sound cyber security infrastructure in place. The reality of the new distributed office and workforce has pushed SASE to the forefront of security conversations.  With an increase in the sophistication of cyber-attacks, there must be the desire to consolidate architecture, secure everything, and prevent attacks before a breach, from everywhere your enterprise extends.

Join cyber security thought leaders Grant Asplund and Marco Garcia as they share insights into how it is possible for businesses of all sizes to adopt a simple approach to SASE as part of their enterprise security architecture.

NAAS, PAAS, IAAS: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES

Network-as-a-Service (NaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) are big trends. Enterprises are looking for providers to obtain these services, rather than having to handle them in-house. They want a co-managed and co-creation experience with access to all-encompassing customer portals. But what do the terms NaaS, PaaS, and IaaS encompass? Who’s better positioned to provide these services: telcos or big cloud providers, and will telcos lose market share to the public clouds? Or would enterprises be best served if telcos and public clouds worked together to provide joint services?

11:00AM-11:15AM: Keynote Interview with Massimo Peselli, Verizon Business' Senior Vice President, Global Enterprise
11:15AM-11:30AM: Partner Keynote with Jim Poole, Equinix's Vice President of Global Business Development

2021 FIBER TECHNOLOGIES AND STRATEGIES: EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW

A couple of factors are driving momentum behind fiber build-outs in the United States in 2021. One is the deployment of 5G and the necessity of fiber for backhaul, and the other is motivation to close the digital divide, which became more urgent because of Covid. There’s real money on the table in both cases. The wireless carriers are spending capex to deploy fiber backhaul, and the fed is spending money via the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund (RDOF) and the Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) to close the digital divide. What are the most current fiber technologies that telcos need to understand for 5G backhaul? What issues must be considered for rural deployments of fiber? And what’s the status of next-gen optical such as 400G and beyond?
