11:00AM-12:15PM ET:
RAN REVOLUTION - HOW 5G IS CHANGING THE GAME
The wireless radio area network (RAN) has probably seen the most changes with the transition to 5G than any other aspect of the wireless ecosystem. Software and hardware are being disaggregated. Massive MIMO antennas are being deployed. And radio interfaces are being opened. What other aspects of the RAN are seeing changes? What is the status of standalone (SA) 5G New Radio? Are operators implementing O-RAN software? Where does dynamic spectrum sharing fit in the mix? How will Release 17 affect the 5G RAN?

2:00PM-3:15PM ET:
WHAT'S NEXT FOR THE 5G CORE?
Most operators, including those in the U.S., chose to launch 5G services using the Non-Standalone (NSA) version of the 3GPP standard, which uses LTE in the core network. It enabled them to get out faster with 5G. But now that the industry has had 5G for a while, the question is how to transition to full standalone (SA). What is the status of SA 5G core at carriers? How is the SA 5G core different from the LTE core? Will Release 17 affect the 5G core?

11:00AM-12:15PM ET:
5G EDGE TRANSFORMATION, WHAT COMES NEXT?
As part of 5G, there’s a big movement to deploy thousands of new edge computing locations to bring applications closer to consumers. These edge locations will reduce latency for super demanding applications such as autonomous driving and remote surgery. Where are these edge compute locations being deployed and who is deploying them? How much compute, memory and storage can stay at the edge and how much has to remain in more central locations? Will these edge locations implement artificial intelligence?

PARTNER WORKSHOP: 5G NR EVOLUTION - WHAT IS DYNAMIC SPECTRUM SHARING
Almost 90% of all spectrum is organized as paired frequency bands, where downlink and uplink transmission are separated by frequency. However, all the targeted frequency bands are already in use by 4G LTE. To enable the use of the spectrum and enable a smooth transition from LTE to 5G without the need for spectrum refarming, spectrum sharing principles have been embedded into the 5G NR standard.
In this presentation we will introduce the spectrum sharing principle called dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) and analyze related test and measurement challenges from a network and device testing point of view.

11:00AM-12:15PM ET:
WILL FIXED WIRELESS ACCESS FINALLY OFFER AN ROI?
Wireless operators have a few motivations for deploying fixed wireless access (FWA). First, the technology gives them a way to serve broadband to customers that are otherwise unserved or underserved. FWA also gives operators a way to expand their footprints and to monetize excess capacity. Many wireless providers have offered LTE FWA for a number of years. But now, they’re plotting their moves to 5G FWA. How pervasive are FWA deployments? What are the necessary elements of a 5G FWA deployment? What does it take to pencil out an FWA business case that makes sense? How does mmWave spectrum play in 5G FWA?

GETTING A HANDLE ON THE COMPLEXITIES OF 5G TRANSPORT
The transport infrastructure for 5G is just as important as the other elements of the 5G network, and transport technologies are having to be updated for this next generation of wireless. Backhaul used to be relatively simplistic in wireless networks, but 5G has made it more complex with front-haul and mid-haul elements. And these elements can all be mixed together in different configurations. What are the considerations for managing 5G transport? What are the different kinds of interfaces in the 5G transport network? How does integrated access backhaul (IAB) fit into the picture?
